CM Financial Advisers provide advice in relation to products provided by the following companies:

Our fees, expenses and/or other amounts payable

Our agreed advice and service fees may include charges for initial advice, ongoing, or annual advice, and services. The fees charged for our advice and services may be based on a combination of a set dollar amount or a percentage-based fee. Fees will be confirmed by your adviser during the advice process.

Where a fee is charged, you will be issued with an invoice. This will be payable 14 days after the invoice is issued.

For advice services relating to insurance, lending, and some investment products, we generally do not charge any fee. This is because our advisers are usually remunerated by way of commission by the providers of products we recommend. However, there are some situations where fees may apply. These include but may not be limited to:

  • On occasion, some providers may not pay a commission. In this situation, we may charge a fee. The fee payable will be a fair reflection of the time required to provide you with advice and obtain approval for you.
  • Where your adviser has obtained approval from a lender or insurer who does pay commission, but you decide not to proceed with the advice, we may charge you a fee based on a fair reflection of the time required to provide you with advice and obtain approval for you.
  • For lending advice, should you proceed with a loan implementation after advice from your adviser, and then repay or refinance your loan within 28 months of your loan being advanced, without giving youradviser the opportunity to assist you with a refinance, wemay charge you a fee for the time spent to get the initial loan approved and implemented.
  • For insurance advice, should you proceed with a policy implementation after advice from your adviser, and then cancel, amend, or change your policy within 25 months of premium payments, we may charge you a fee for the time spent to provide advice and obtain approval on your behalf.
  • For investment plans, we will generally charge an Investment Plan fee. This will be presented and discussed with you in the Scope of Service.
  • We charge an ongoing advice fee for managing KiwiSaver for our clients. However, either some or all of this fee is covered by the KiwiSaver provider.
  • Ongoing KiwiSaver advice and servicing is provided as part of these fees.

Other costs

Where other costs are incurred in the process of providing our advice and services to you, you will be liable for these costs. These other costs may arise from another service
provider, for example property valuer, property surveyors, etc and / or incidentals such as travel costs, stationery, etc. However, we will agree all additional costs with you prior to incurring them.

Conflicts of interest

CM Financial Advisers has spent many years forging relationships with providers. The benefits of these relationships are seen every day by giving our clients outstanding choice, competitive pricing, coverage options and policy support services. We ensure that your interests are always our priority.

CM Financial Advisers are paid commission and/or fees for the business placed with our product providers. The amount of commission or fee is normally calculated as a percentage. Specific information on how we are paid, and how this is calculated, will be provided to at the time of advice.

From time to time our product providers assist us with funding so we can bring our advisers together for conferences and professional training. We may also receive indirect benefits such as business lunches, tickets to sporting and/or cultural events, corporate promotional merchandise and other unquantifiable minor benefits.

CM Financial Advisers recognises that the above commissions and incentives may create conflicts of interests for the business and associated financial advisers. To manage these conflicts, our advisers follow an advice process that ensures the recommendations made to you, the client, are made based on your financial goals, personal circumstances and have received appropriate research.

CM Financial Advisers operates its own Premium Funding Company for the purpose of funding general insurance premiums. You, as the client, will be advised if CM Financial Advisers will be using Cole Murray Premium Funding Ltd (CMPF) prior to any business being placed with CMPF.
