When George’s son and daughter-in-law called from Perth to say they were looking to sell a 10,000 square metre block of land on the outskirts of Taradale, Hawke’s Bay, George’s ears pricked up. That conversation, around five years ago, set in motion one of the most unexpected chapters of his life.
